About me
I'm Kirsty, and like a lot of people... I love animals! I currently work as an animal care assistant in a rescue centre and it has been a life changing experience! Prior to this I volunteered at the rescue centre and I also volunteered in a wildlife rehabilitation farm. In my spare time I volunteer at another animal rescue charity, I look after other people's animals when they're away or unable to and I go on long hikes with my boy Buddy, so my life revolves around animals big time!
I studied Photography in college but I didn't pursue it further, I just enjoyed taking pictures and editing them as a hobby, that was until early in 2023 when I took the plunge and bought my first DSLR camera since I was 16 and then I became hooked! One lens turned into 2 then 3 then 4, then I needed accessories, then back up cameras and it became an incredibly fulfilling hobby since then. I put myself out there and had photography jobs doing weddings, pregnancy shoots, newborn shoots, couples, family’s, events and many more, but the one type of photoshoot that always gave me that feel-good feeling was pets! Action shots, posing, events, with their humans, agility, I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of seeing pets/animals enjoying themselves and capturing their personality on an image that can be kept forever. So that's where I am today, pursuing a hobby that brings happiness into people's lives.
Who's Buddy?
Buddy is my boy, my best friend and my favourite companion. We've been through many good times and bad times together but at the end of the day he's always been there for me with lots of cuddles and kisses.
When I met him it was love at first sight so I adopted him back in 2020 when he was 2 years old and we've been inseparable ever since.
One of my favourite things about him is how photogenic he is! I had a passion for photography way before he came into my life, but the way he poses and stays when I need him to encouraged me to take more and more until I realised how happy these photos made me feel and how in love I was with the whole process. Knowing that I have photos that remind me of fun times and how much joy that brings me is an incredible feeling, and I would love to share that feeling with as many people as possible.
FAQ
Here are some regular questions I get asked...
How many pictures will I receive?
For an hour-long session, we will always try to get at least 15 wonderful photos, if there happen to be more than that then there won't be any extra charge!
If for any reason the photoshoot doesn't turn out as planned then we'd be happy to attempt another free of charge.
My pet isn't photogenic, is that an issue?
That's absolutely fine! We will always try and encourage relaxing, fun or familiar surroundings and we will always treat your pet with kindness and respect to help bring out their inner cuteness.
If they're still not impressed with being put in the spotlight then we will try our best to work with it and represent their personality with their photos.
I have lots of dogs, is there an extra charge?
No, there's no extra charge, if you have more than 6 pets then it may be difficult showing off their individual personalities during one session but I enjoy the challenge and I'd do my best to capture some memorable moments.
I've made a booking but the weather isn't looking great that day, what happens now?
If it's a light drizzle then as long as your little buddies are happy getting a bit damp then I am too, we can use this to get some great muddy pup images!
If there's any risk of my equipment getting damaged then unfortunately I will have to insist on rescheduling or changing the booking to a studio photoshoot, this will also be the case if the weather changes midway through a session.
I will always try and make sure that any outdoor booking is matched with good weather, but if a booking is made well in advance then this may not be possible. I will not charge for rescheduling due to weather.
